THEODORE FU

MONSIEUR TEDDS is an alternative streetwear brand that heavily focuses on storytelling and narrative based content creation. The brand is a hodgepodge of different genres all blended with a cyberpunk/neo-noir aesthetic to craft this alternative future visualscape of fashion. INITIATIVE is the name of this growing universe, and similar to many big pop-culture franchises as seen in comic-books, films, television, etc aims to have a structured that will (although produce fresh and different works from the previous) allow for a consistency for its reputation as a brand.

Theodore Fu is a creative alternative fashion designer with the mission of bringing forth a new wave of futuristic, neo-noir, cyberpunk fashion to the streets of the world. Having graduated from Ryerson University in 2022, immediately after he began a position of Assistant Product Developer at the Canadian Hat & Apparel brand, TILLEY. Through his time, Theodore had the opportunity to see first-hand many of the inner workings of a production run, growing a wider range of knowledge for fabrics and materials, aspects of how business are run, and much more through this insightful experience.

Hopefully that’s enough formal information for you to digest? Cool? Cool. Switching to a more personal tone of voice, INITIATIVE is a very personal project that’s evolved and is still evolving as I continue to explore the potential of it. INITIATIVE is a project that has become in some senses as a tool aimed to fight my own personal issues that have sort of been enveloping my mental health over the course of this year.

As my emotions have fluctuated up and down this year, my life has entirely shifted and mental health has become such a big aspect of my current life, and as prevalent it has become, I thought one day to perhaps take advantage of that negative and somehow make something meaningful and positive out of it despite risking my overall health, to somehow express my visual headspace through fashion and content creation and creating things that perhaps are relatable to what many people are going through in their personal lives, especially that stage of transitioning into adulthood. One of the goals is to shed light on these more sensitive topics and opening the conversation to those who are also going through these ordeals.
